About the movement
What is Gippy Girls Can?
Gippy Girls Can is a social media movement encouraging women and girls across Gippsland to get active and celebrate being part of something together.
Across Gippsland, women and girls want to be active. But things like confidence, cost, time and feeling like you don't quite belong can get in the way. Gippy Girls Can exists to break those down. We connect women and girls to local opportunities, share real stories and help women and girls feel like getting active is actually for them — right across the region.
Gippy Girls Can has been building momentum across Gippsland for a few years now, with women and girls already sharing their stories and activities using #GippyGirlsCan. Now we're looking to grow that even further — and we'd love your help.
Your role
What is a Story & Content Champion?
A Story & Content Champion is a woman in Gippsland who helps make activity more visible and welcoming by sharing what's already happening in her community.
You might share a local opportunity, post a photo from a session, invite a friend to try something new, or highlight a club or group that made you feel welcome. That's it. No set hours, no experience needed, no pressure.
You might be a great fit if you:
- Are connected to women and girls in your community
- Are part of a club, group, workplace or organisation
- Care about inclusion and making activity feel more welcoming
- Want to share local opportunities and real stories with the women and girls around you
You don't need to be highly active or a social media expert. Your local knowledge and lived experience are what matter most.
Getting involved
What does being a Champion look like?
Being a Champion is flexible. You get involved in a way that suits you — even one small action makes a difference.
Share an opportunity
You spot a local walking group or beginner class and share it on Facebook or in a community group.
Post a moment
You take a photo at a class, walk or social sport session and post it on social media, tagging Gippy Girls Can.
Invite someone
You invite a friend, colleague or family member to come along to an activity with you.
Share your story
You post about trying something new or getting back into activity and what that experience was like.
Highlight a welcoming place
You share a club or group that made you feel comfortable and included.
Send content to GippSport
You take a photo or video and send it through for Gippy Girls Can to share on your behalf.
Keep in mind
You don't need to
There's no expectation to do everything. Just contribute when it suits you.
- Run programs or lead activities (unless you want to)
- Commit to set hours
- Be on social media (unless you want to)
What you'll receive
A little thank you from us
Every Champion receives a Gippy Girls Can t-shirt and drink bottle as a thank you for being part of the movement. Sizes are unisex and we'll do our best to match your preference, though we can't guarantee availability.

Ready-to-use post ideas, photo tips and your Gippy Girls Can t-shirt and drink bottle.

Start small, observe first, or dive straight in. There's no wrong way to be a Champion.
