Jess, 37 years old who describes herself as a plus-size woman and supporter of the HAES movement and body positivity movement. From a young age, Jess grew up playing netball and hockey. At the young age of 21, she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after several years of being unwell during this time Jess found it difficult to maintain a routine at the gym. An appreciation of nature and the outdoor Jess has always enjoyed bushwalking and hiking and found that being in nature always soothing. Jess has a dedicated passion to make the outdoors accessible to everyone to receive the benefits of nature. Jess is a Gippsland Leader for Escaping Your Comfort Zone, a women’s and non-binary folks adventure group. Give Jess a follow on Instagram as she documents her walks @walking_with_jess

Clare is an active mum of two sons, who is an engineer leading the way in the operations division. Clare takes pride in coaching and mentoring people of all ages to help them become the best version of themselves. In her spare time, Clare volunteers as a Cub Scout Leader, Auskick coach and occasionally at her local parkrun.

Why would you like to be a GGC ambassador?

I’d love to encourage, support, and empower women to be active. Sport has always been a part of my life and it gives me so much joy. I’d love to help bring that feeling to girls and women of all ages.

Claudia, a tattooed 23-year-old registered mental health nurse who lives with her dog. After a lifestyle change Claudia recently lost 50 kg, she regularly takes her dog out hiking and camping. With a passion for supporting women and Gippsland, she hopes more women feel confident in their mind, body and soul.

Why would you like to be a GGC ambassador?

I love sharing a message of women being confident in their skin no matter their size and moving their bodies. I would love more women to be active on their own, exploring what Gippsland has to offer!

A mum of 3 beautiful girls, Rebecca lives and works with her husband on their family dairy farm in South Gippsland and if life weren’t busy enough is a part-time primary school teacher teaching Physical Education. Rebecca describes herself as a hardworking and kind-hearted person, striving to live her best life, bringing up 3 strong girls, who know they can do and be anything and has a passion to make a difference through the love of movement.

Rebecca understands the high and lows life can throw at us. Through all her life challenges and triumphs, she remains positive and humble. Pushing the boundaries but remaining an open book to help others know they are not alone in their struggles. Rebecca has faith in the universe and mother nature that everything in our lives happen for a reason.

Why would you like to be a GGC ambassador?

I feel like I have something positive to offer the Gippsland Community. I am passionate about movement and the difference it can make for people’s physical and mental health. I know there is a pleasurable way that everyone can confidently move, and I love nothing more than helping people find their movement fit. I am by no means your typical looking trainer I have a strong mum body that I am proud of and move in a way that makes it feel good, not to punish myself.

Allison is a passionate runner who loves writing and podcasting about running. You can find her out on the Grand Ridge Rail Trail with her husband and two kids (on bikes) or her beautiful boxers. Despite have a senior management role, Allison still finds time to be active and is proud member of the local Latrobe Walk Jog Run group.

Cat has been one of the number one supporters of the Gippy Girls Can campaign since it first started in 2018! Cat has been sharing her running, walking, mountain bike riding photos with the online community, encouraging the women of Gippsland to get active together!
Cat is a mum of 2 children and a Staffy, and in her free time, she enjoys working out at home, being a part of a local running group, and volunteers at her local parkrun as a Co-event director!

Why would you like to be a GGC ambassador?

To empower others.
Give women and girls confidence that we don’t all have to be extremely fit to give things a go.

These Gippy Girls Can!
The Gippy Girls Masters Netball is a group of women who don’t let their age be a barrier to playing the game they love. Whether it is a half-court game or walking style of Netball, the group focuses on creating an environment that welcomes anyone new or returning to the sport, no matter what ability. The group is continually growing, with friendships blossoming over a cuppa coffee after a session.

In October 2021, a few members of this group will be heading over to Perth to participate in The Master’s Games!

Tahlia loves encouraging her two daughters to be active and happy by participating in activities such as Judo, running, walking, swimming, and stand-up paddleboarding. Tahlia’s list of activities is continually growing; with the love of the ocean, she is currently learning how to surf!
In Tahlia’s spare time, she is a Judo instructor for the women and girls in her community, encouraging them to be active while learning the art of Judo.

Why would you like to be a GGC ambassador?

I love encouraging women to get out and get active and do things for themselves. Helping women with their self-confidence and strength is a very important and rewarding role!

Lisa works on being the best version of herself whilst juggling work, children and a healthy lifestyle, without sweating on the small stuff. Lisa’s motivation to be active is being a role model to her children and encouraging them to enjoy being active, whether it is playing netball, football, walking or exploring the outdoors!

To encourage others to have a go and enjoy what your body can do!
As well as supporting others and encouraging health and well-being from children through to adults.
